Job Description

The post holder will undertake a 27 month training programme as a Healthcare Science Level 4 Apprentice within the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT). It is also an exciting opportunity to work in the new Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC's) Spoke and Hub in the heart of the Halifax and Huddersfield communities. Formal training will be given where the successful candidate can learn and develop skills and knowledge relating to working in a busy cardio-respiratory department and by undertaking basic cardiology and respiratory diagnostic tests. Study will take place in partnership with the Sheffield College. This is a full-time post and there is an expectation that the apprentice will need to commit to self-directed study, attend Sheffield college virtually and in person, and successfully complete the training programme within the contract period. The post holder will receive 20% off the job training to fulfil the apprenticeship standard. On successful completion of the apprenticeship and probationary period the post holder will be offered a permanent post of Cardio-Respiratory Healthcare Science Associate (Band 4).

Requirements

  • 5 GCSE's 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent academic qualifications, must include Maths, English, and Science
  • A willingness to undertake any training or development associated with the role
  • To be committed to completing the Level 4 apprenticeship within 27 months
  • To comply with all training requirements of the Level 4 apprenticeship and complete practical competencies
  • Evidence of practical experience of working within a team
  • Insight into roles and responsibilities of the post
