Job Description

Join us in building the next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are seeking a Research Assistant (Part-time student position) to support the development of wafer-scale crystal growth processes using advanced deposition and characterization tools with a particular focus on quantum circuit(s) and related components. Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation quantum computing processor technologies. Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring quantum computing to scale. About us Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. NQCP is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors. Join our team This role ensures continuous support for long‑duration crystal growth experiments while contributing to materials characterization, project communication, and data‑driven process development. Additional key responsibilities and tasks may include: * Act as the primary after‑hours support for ongoing crystal growth processes, ensuring continuity during long‑duration experiments (including monitoring and handling deposition systems). * Participate in multiple projects and communicate regularly with Quantum Foundry and NQCP stakeholders on process status and materials characterization through Teams updates and project meetings. * Perform fast loop materials characterization. * Support the process development team in implementing data‑driven methodologies for continuous improvement. The role is part time, with an expected commitment of 15–20 hours per week, and offers a flexible schedule that allows you to balance your work and studies. Professional and personal qualifications You are a collaborative and communicative team player who thrives in a dynamic work environment. You are curious and self‑driven, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new techniques in an evolving research setting. You are preferably early in your studies (bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field) with at least one year remaining-

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in crystal growth, nanofabrication, and/or epitaxy processes, preferably supported by relevant coursework.
  • Broad foundational knowledge of materials characterization techniques and nanofabrication processes.
