Job Description

Join the CARE CJC and members of the team to contribute to CJC’s goal to lead and coordinate the integration of climate justice and resilience across CARE’s development and humanitarian work. CJC Climate Change Adaptation Intern Main tasks for the CCA intern will be as follow: * Support the organization of regular meetings of Climate Justice Communities of Practices: The intern will support the facilitation of CARE CJ COPs by for example, proposing agenda items of the different meetings, supporting the facilitation of the meetings, contributing to implementation of the action points decided and following up with participants between meetings. * Contribute to technical support provided to projects and programs: The intern will work together with the Program Quality Lead and Adaptation Specialist in supporting COs and specific CARE projects to integrate climate change into their project. For example, during the period of the internship, some of the main tasks will be to support the finalization of the Climate Resilience Marker, to develop CARE Climate Justice Onboarding Training, developing new project proposals, etc. The intern will support the climate adaptation program team in this work with background research, contributing to some sections of the tools, formatting, etc. * Support the design and delivery of Climate Justice training courses: The intern will work with the Adaptation Program Specialist and other team members on the development and delivery of training such as the online learning journey on Ecosystem Based Adaptation among others. You will also work to ensure that courses are available in other official CARE languages (Spanish and/or French). * Capitalization and dissemination of CARE’s adaptation work: The CJC Comms team oversees regularly updating the CARE Climate Change website with the most recent global program activities related to climate change and resilience. The intern will work closely with Comms team to share the contents produced or gathered on CCA and will also support the dissemination of CARE technical work on external relevant platforms and events. The intern will work under the supervision of the CJC Program Quality Lead based in France and Adaptation Specialist based in CARE Germany, and will communicate and work with CARE office staff where relevant.

Requirements

  • Masters students in the fields of Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Geography, Environment, International Development Studies, Anthropology, or any other related areas
  • Enrolled in a Masters program at a Dutch university
  • Excellent proficiency in English and Spanish or French
  • Residing in the Netherlands
  • Exceptional organisational, analytical and writing skills
  • Good eye for detail, collaborative, proactive, and creative
  • Passionate about climate change adaptation, climate justice and gender justice
  • High interest in adult learning, (online) training design and knowledge management
  • Comfortable with, and able to quickly learn new technologies
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of technical colleagues (remotely) and to work independently with limited supervision
  • Open-minded and flexible attitude towards responsibilities and ad-hoc requests for support
