Together with the team, you will research and analyze Mass Timber and/or Precast Concrete building systems. As an example, your role could be to come up with ways of optimizing, revolutionizing, or innovating those buildings through creating new connection concepts between structural elements. The ideation ultimately would lead to a proof-of-concept prototype, which is tested in our lab to ensure it meets building specifications. Flexible start date, according to the student's availability. Duration between 6 and 12 months. Join an interdisciplinary and international research team solving the challenges of tomorrow. You’ll work closely with our experts and external network developing innovative connection concepts for Mass Timber and Precast Concrete building systems. Our goal is to enable a circular and more sustainable construction industry. You can significantly contribute by working on different topics: * Analyze and iterate different building systems combining materials (e.g. concrete, steel, timber, etc) to assess carbon footprint and structural performance. * Ideate on new building systems and connections. * Define connection requirements. * Support the team defining lab test planning and execution. * Identify value proposition of your ideas.
