The Advanced Information Processing Group aims at applying state-of-the-art theoretical results into real-world applications within information processing systems. The expertise of the group ranges from quantum error correction to Smart Data Management, exploring cutting-edge communication theories such as semantic communication and Age of Information, pushing the boundaries of data utilization and dissemination. This thesis will study the new paradigm of ambient IoT (A-IoT), in which green, zero-energy devices harvest energy from the environment and use it to transmit data, e.g., to collect information on a process of interest. A-IoT will be a key component of 6G systems, and 3GPP standardization has started taking the first steps towards defining how these systems will work.
