The aim is to study the photothermal effect of nanoparticle catalyst and quantify various contributing factors. Various light sources including LEDs and laser will be studied as the light source for the light driven chemical process. The induced photothermal effect in the nanoparticle catalyst bed will be characterized using fiber optic sensor arrays. You will learn to use those optical devices for systematic measurement and testing. Data processing is necessary to convert optical measurement to physical parameters. The photothermal conversion efficiency of lighting sources will be compared. You will be part of a diverse team consisting of engineers and scientists helping to create impactful innovations.
