DLR Space Operations and Astronaut Training is the central institution for German spacecraft missions — ranging from satellite missions for Earth observation, communications, and space safety, to human spaceflight, high-altitude research, and exploration. In addition, we at DLR Space Operations and Astronaut Training are developing innovative technologies to ensure we can successfully carry out even the most challenging space missions of the future. What to expect The position belongs to the Mission Planning group within the Mission Technology department, which deals with the development and construction of systems, in particular for planning the activities of ground segments and satellites in orbit and their payloads. For example, future earth observation missions, the support of constellations including optical communication, or the operation of a rover on other planets and moons pose particular challenges in terms of planning and system architecture. These requirements must be analysed, the feasibility demonstrated and finally the mission planning software system implemented and operated after satellite launch. The job holder (m/f/d) deals with complex interrelationships and dependencies in the development of a mission planning software system and its interactions via internal and external interfaces as well as the underlying user requirements. The success of the mission depends crucially on the correct combination of the respective concepts, systems and associated procedures. In order to be prepared for the needs of current and future missions, an important aspect of the work is also the development and ongoing further development of generic components and services and the testing of new technologies. Your tasks * Create and maintain templates for Gitlab CI jobs for the various development languages used at GSOC * Write Python tools that improve our artifact management * Improve documentation of CI workflows and artifact management solutions * Write Typescript plugins for our artifact manager The tasks can be carried out by arrangement as a student assistant or as part of a student internship or in connection with a thesis (Bachelor/Master).
