Job Description

At the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry our highly motivated interdisciplinary team offers a position for a PraeDoc in the area of bioinorganic chemistry and chemical biology in an inspiring scientific environment and a pleasant working atmosphere. A main aim of our work is the development of innovative approaches to elucidate the role of transition metals in cancer growth. Projects will involve the characterization of biological activities of novel anticancer compounds, including metal complexes and/or metal-binding agents, in two- and three-dimensional in-vitro models. Strong expertise and state-of-the-art instrumentation for preclinical development of novel anticancer drugs are provided by this team.

Requirements

  • a diploma or masters degree in molecular biology, biological chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques and characterization of compound bioactivity, ideally including flow cytometry and imaging-based methods.
  • Basic experience in research methods and academic writing.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in academic teaching (including e-learning) is desirable.
  • As an enthusiastic, hard-working, motivated scientist who enjoys working independently as well as being a team player, you will blend into and be a valuable addition to our group.
  • Very good knowledge of English, basic knowledge of German.
