Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ignition as a Technology Operations Apprentice as part of a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Cyber Security or Artificial Intelligence (AI). This programme combines structured, off-the-job learning with hands-on, real-world experience, enabling you to build advanced technical knowledge while contributing directly to the success of the business. In this role, you will support the day-to-day running of our internal systems and help maintain the technology that keeps the business operating smoothly. You’ll assist with hardware and software maintenance, security tasks, and responding to support requests from colleagues and external support services. You will gain practical experience across infrastructure, cyber security operations, and emerging technologies, developing both your technical capability and professional skills. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be supported by the Technology Operations Team and work under the guidance of the Technology Operations Manager EMEA, ensuring you receive the coaching and development needed to succeed. As the Technology Operations Apprentice, you will: * Provide support for both internal and external users, responding to enquiries and resolving technical issues. * Provide technical support and assistance on internal infrastructure, hardware, and software. * Collaborate with colleagues to investigate and resolve SOC-generated alerts. * Assist in the configuration, development life cycle, and maintenance of approved internal software. * Troubleshoot and help minimise downtime across internal networks and systems. * Contribute to AI-driven and cybersecurity-focused initiatives aligned with your apprenticeship pathway. * Create and maintain clear documentation, including IT processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and team workflows. * Participate in projects by contributing to planning, testing, and implementation activities. * Stay up to date on the latest Cyber Security, AI, and Information Technology trends to support continuous improvement. * Undertake any ad hoc duties as defined by your line manager

Requirements

  • GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Mathematics, English, and preferably Science or Computing.
  • A-levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications) in relevant subjects, such as IT, Computing, Mathematics, or Science.
  • Alternatively, a Level 3 apprenticeship in a related area or equivalent work experience in IT or security.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, networks and cyber security concepts.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows and Linux.
  • Awareness of common cyber security threats (e.g., phishing, malware, ransomware).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic IT issues.
  • Basic proficiency in using Microsoft Suite & IT management tools.
  • Clear communication, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail.
