Job Description

The Data Science Intern will join the Finance & Data Operations Data Science Team and support the delivery of data-driven insights and analytics solutions for business teams within Shell. This is a learning-focused role designed to provide hands-on exposure to real-world analytics projects, tools, and ways of working, while being guided by experienced data scientists. The intern will work as part of a global team spanning onshore and offshore locations and will contribute to analytics initiatives supporting finance and operations processes.

Requirements

Foundational understanding of statistics and data analysis concepts.
Basic programming knowledge in Python or R (academic or project experience is sufficient).
Familiarity with data analysis libraries/tools (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, or equivalents) is an advantage.
Willingness to learn additional tools such as: o BI and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) o Process analytics or automation tools (e.g., Alteryx)
Strong numerical and logical reasoning skills.
Ability to communicate findings clearly and ask the right questions.
Curiosity and eagerness to learn new business processes and technologies.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a virtual, global team.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science).
