Job Description

As an Apprentice Technician: * You’ll perform routine laboratory and field testing on materials including soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt * Ensure testing is carried out in line with industry standards and project specifications * Prepare test samples and carry out testing to assess strength, composition, durability, and performance of materials * Record, analyse, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner * Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and safe operation of testing equipment * Assist in collecting material samples from construction or quarry sites, often working outdoors * Support the quality assurance process by identifying non-conforming materials and reporting findings * Prepare and participate in internal and external audits and inspections from independent accrediting bodies * Troubleshoot issues with tests, materials, or equipment and recommend corrective actions * Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. You will attend college both virtually and in person; the choice of college will be dependent on where you live. If you’re one to tiptoe around puddles with trepidation, maybe this role isn’t for you. You won’t be spending every day in a clean, corporate office swivelling on an office chair! If you have a natural affinity with the great outdoors, in all weathers, then now we’re talking!
