






The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a life sciences research institute operating across six sites in Europe. Located on the EPN scientific campus, EMBL Grenoble provides an excellent environment for research in structural biology and integrated life sciences. For the Grenoble site, we are seeking a dynamic Technical Assistant to contribute to the daily laboratory support activities. As part of the Lab Support team (3 people), you will ensure that our scientists have access to high-quality equipment, reagents, consumables, and reliable technical support. You will interact daily with technicians, researchers, and students, and work in collaboration with the Facility Manager and the Health and Safety Officer. Our evolving team is looking for someone eager to propose ideas to optimise their role and improve the service’s operations. Your role Laboratory technical activities (including washing facilities, sterilisation, and media preparation) * Rinse, wash (dishwasher), and store glassware, plasticware, and other laboratory equipment. * Prepare culture media, buffer solutions, agar plates according to standard protocols and good laboratory practices. * Prepare items for sterilisation and operate autoclaves. * Autoclave biological waste. * Perform basic maintenance of the autoclave, dishwasher, pH meter, water bath, and more generally the laboratory bench. * Clean surfaces and cupboards in shared laboratories. * Refill liquid nitrogen tanks (storage of group cell lines). * Refill liquid nitrogen tanks (storage of group cell lines). Stock management and supply * Receive Lab Support deliveries, check them, and store items in the common stock. * Ensure supply of shared consumables for research teams: receive requests from technicians, prepare orders from common stock, and deliver to the relevant groups. * Enter delivery notes into our purchasing software to validate invoices. * Monitor stock levels and anticipate restocking needs. * Assist with the annual inventory. Waste management * Ensure traceability and storage of chemical and biological waste. * Prepare and participate in the removal of chemical waste by an external company. User support and participation in service activities * Contribute to the organisation of stock, equipment, and documentation. * Participate in optimising Lab Support services and carry out additional tasks as needed. * Take part in laboratory operational committees. * Respond to laboratory users’ requests regarding supplies, washing facilities, and equipment sterilisation.
