Job Description

Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School 📍 Wandsworth, South West London 💼 Full-time | Term Time Only We are looking for patient, compassionate and resilient individuals to join a welcoming secondary school supporting young people aged 11-19 with special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of students who may have moderate learning difficulties, autism (ASD), and communication needs. Working closely with teachers and the wider support team, you will help students access learning, build confidence, and develop important life skills that prepare them for independence, further education and employment. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: * Support students in the classroom, in small groups, and on a 1:1 basis * Help adapt learning activities so all students can access the curriculum * Encourage confidence, independence and social development * Support students with communication and emotional regulation * Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to provide the best possible support * Create a safe, positive and structured learning environment Who We're Looking For We are keen to hear from people who are: * Patient, calm and empathetic * Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs * Resilient and able to stay positive in challenging situations * Confident communicators who can adapt their approach * Proactive and flexible in the classroom Ideal Backgrounds (but not essential) We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, including: * Education or childcare * Psychology or related degrees * Youth work or mentoring * Care or support work * Sports coaching * Graduates considering a career in teaching or educational psychology Full training and support will be provided.
