The Mains & Safety team within Development & Engineering plays a key role in designing safety‑critical handling systems for ASML’s lithography machines. These systems must perform reliably under a wide range of conditions to support system uptime and product quality. This internship supports that mission by improving how we validate the reliability of I/O modules returned from the field. You will help the team strengthen diagnostic capability while contributing to lower environmental impact and reduced Cost of Goods. This is a chance to gain hands‑on experience in a highly innovative and international environment. You will design and implement a complete testbench that combines hardware and software to verify the safety, performance, and functional integrity of PLC‑based I/O modules. Your work will help ensure consistent, repeatable, and traceable testing that supports automated decision‑making on module reuse or replacement. You will also deliver clear documentation and present your findings to the team. Your main responsibilities will be: * Design and build a hardware setup that supports safe and repeatable I/O module testing. * Develop software that measures key electrical and communication parameters. * Create automated pass/fail classification and reporting tools. * Validate the testbench under different operating conditions. * Analyze test results and support root‑cause investigations. * Document the full methodology and write a clear technical report. * Present your approach, results, and recommendations to the team.
