Job Description

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for recent graduates to join the 2026 cohort of Graduate Interns. This is an 11-month internship that will allow you to use the knowledge you gained during your studies in a professional environment. By joining the graduate internship programme in Communications you will: * have the opportunity to work in an international financial organisation at the intersection of research and policy. * gain practical experience in data-related work and strategic communications, supporting BIS business areas and central banks and other financial authorities and contribute to strategic and impactful communications campaigns. * work with top global experts within an intellectually stimulating organisational culture that emphasises effective collaboration, high-quality output and attention to detail. * enjoy exposure to ideas and a broad range of projects, build knowledge of stakeholder needs and play a valuable part in supporting the BIS and the wider central banking community. Purpose of the Internship Programme: The programme is designed for recent graduates with no more than 12 months of overall full-time professional experience in a related field, aiming to enrich your work experience for a higher educational degree or a position at another organisation. The Communications function plays a key role to position the BIS as a global voice on central bank issues, financial stability and innovation. We work together with business areas to raise the profile of their work, enhance communications reach and build trust with their stakeholders, both externally and internally. Programme duration: 11 months Programme location: Basel, Switzerland Programme start date: October 2026 Principal accountabilities: * Support strategic communication by providing insights into the impact of BIS communications activities through social data, graphs, dashboards etc using relevant tools. * Support an initiative to increase the measurement and listening capabilities of the Communications unit. Help to implement interactive dashboards to explore and disseminate relevant data. * Help develop tools to monitor news and social media for information relevant to the Bank and develop novel ways of developing insights to inform the content strategy. * Create narratives, graphs and tables for use in impact reports. * Conduct data quality control and help test and implement new analytical applications. * Assist with the development and implementation of a taxonomy for the BIS website to ensure content is structured effectively. * Collaborate with the data team to enhance cross-platform measurements to improve KPIs for content consumption.

Requirements

  • no more than 12 months of overall full-time professional experience in a related field
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (eg Communications, Statistics, Computer Science etc) completed in 2025 or 2026
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Data management, processing and visualisation skills
  • Skilled in using standard media monitoring, social media content measurement and analytical tools like Meltwater, Talkwalker, Sprinklr etc
