Location: Friedrichshafen Start: 01.05.2026 Duration: 6 months Within the last years, space around Earth has become more and more crowded with active satellites by an increasing number of diverse operators as well as by space debris. In order to maintain safe and secure operations in space, we need a good understanding of the satellite and debris population, the intentions of potentially uncooperative operators and the space environment in general. To improve this understanding, Airbus Defence and Space develops innovative space-based capabilities for the detection, classification and characterization of objects in space. Your job will be to support those activities.

Requirements

Enrolled full time Master student in space or aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, automation engineering, physics, mathematics, software engineering or related fields.
Background in orbital mechanics, satellite systems and/or mission analysis
Experience in programming (Python) and with dedicated mission analysis tools (e.g., STK, Orekit, GMAT)
Strong communicative skills and positive attitude towards teamwork.
Fluent German.
Interest in Space Situational Awareness topics and space in general.
