Job Description

You will conduct research on grid-tied power conversion systems with grid-support / grid-forming functionalities. You will perform in-depth analysis of state-of-the-art power converter topologies, in identifying component stress, potential bottlenecks, and failure modes during grid transient conditions. You will research into novel topologies, modulation, control and algorithms for such power conversion systems to ensure converters meet grid requirements without excessive oversizing of active and passive components. You will produce hardware prototypes in laboratory environments for proof of concepts. You will document research fundings by means of patents, reports or publications in reputed journals/conferences.

Requirements

  • Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent degree in Power Electronics, Power Engineering, or a related Electrical & Electronics discipline
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory or R&D environment is a plus
  • Solid fundamental understanding of power electronic converter principles and passive component design
  • Solid theoretical knowledge of multilevel power converter topologies, modulation, and control algorithms
  • Good working knowledge of one or more of the following software tools is advantageous: MATLAB, Simulink, PLECS, Python, Octave
  • Target-oriented and structured in thinking, eager to learn, and ready to think outside the box
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an international, multicultural research team
