The Position We are seeking an intern to join the Developmental Systems and Computational Biology group led by Gray Camp at the Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel, Switzerland.The Institute of Human Biology (IHB) is a research center in Basel, Switzerland, dedicated to engineering advanced human model systems for drug discovery, development, and precision medicine. The IHB fosters an interdisciplinary environment bridging academic and pharmaceutical research, connecting biologists, engineers, and data scientists. It has close ties to Roche’s pRED organization and collaborates globally. Basel is an international hub for research, innovation, cultivating training environments through institutions like the University of Basel and ETH Zürich's Department of Biosystems Sciences and Engineering, creating long-term value and a melting pot of research development and commercialization. The Opportunity In this exciting research environment, you will contribute to exploratory and translational research by employing complex human model systems. You will have the possibility to perform sophisticated cell culture experiments, using PSC-derived neurons and/or ASC-derived organoids In this position, you will generate high-quality data to drive the development of these advanced models. With us, you can expand your experimental expertise within a highly collaborative team setting.

Requirements

  • enrolled Master’s or PhD student in biology, biotechnology, or a related degree or graduated from your Bachelor or Master studies within the last 12 months prior to the start date
  • strong experience in cell culture, preferably adult stem cell-organoids
  • drive to understand organoids and other complex models of human biology and disease
  • proof of current university enrollment for the full duration of the internship or confirm that they have recently graduated
  • confirm if the internship is a mandatory requirement of their academic curriculum
  • For Non EU/EFTA students without a residence permit in Switzerland: a mandatory letter from the university is required, including duration, and a valid enrollment certificate
