



The successful applicants will perform a range of administrative, maintenance and service duties to support the Joint Firearms Unit.To maintain and service all force weapons to support operational, training and instructional requirements; to ensure full accountability of weapons and ammunition through an electronic accounting system, to advise on introduction of new weapon systems, and to manage the safe destruction and disposal of surplus weapons and ammunition.The post holder will pay particular attention to maintain security at the armoury including regular audits of weapons and ammunition holdings. The post holder must also be willing to attend specialist weapon and ammunition training by manufacturers of Police supplied weapons in excess of the formally recognised Armourers qualification.The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Given the critical nature of this role, elevating the vetting requirement to Management Vetting (MV), along with the introduction of a GP referral, are now considered appropriate and proportionate controls within the vetting process. These amendments will look to be fully implemented by April 1st 2027.
