We are looking for a motivated final year bachelor or master student! Do you want to know what it's like to be part of one of the largest multinational companies in the pharmaceutical industry? We offer an internship opportunity within our Discovery & Technology (D&T) department where you will have the freedom and space for your own initiative. Intern Molecular Biology – Bachelor/Master – Discovery & Technology Welcome to our team The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on the early-stage research of vaccine technologies. The team consists of about 40 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in different vaccine technology fields like microbiology, vaccine formulation, immunology, vaccine analysis, cell biology and virology. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals. Your internship assignment As an intern, you will be responsible for optimizing the Baculovirus expression system by increasing antigen secretion. In the baculovirus expression system, many recombinant antigens accumulate intracellularly. By contrast, secreted proteins transit through the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus, enabling improved folding and post‑translational modifications. To increase protein secretion, the focus of this internship assignment will be on improving antigen design and testing different signal peptides, adding fusion tags, co-express helper proteins and improve expression conditions like cell line selection, culture optimization and temperature control. Your responsibilities • DNA cloning, protein expression and cell culturing • Chemical and immunological analysis • Literature research and critical scientific thinking • Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.
