Job Description

INSEAD seeks a Hotel Apprentice to join the INSEAD Residences in our Campus Services department. This is an apprenticeship based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France. About the Job The role of the INSEAD Hotels Apprentice is to learn the various professions of a hotel (Front Desk/Reception duties; Back-Office/Admin duties & Reservations) from a team of professional and enthusiastic hotel experts, in an aim for them to pursue their professional experience in the hotel industry after graduating. The apprentice is assigned to one of the 3 depts for a period of 4-6 months. By the end of their 2 years apprenticeship, they should have good knowledge of and have mastered the tasks carried out in all these areas: Your role within the team Front Desk Duties (under the supervision of the Front Desk Manager): Understand the INSEAD programme’s guests and anticipate their needs. * Master the check-in and check-out process. * Understand and successfully convey the services offered at the hotel, general information on INSEAD and local tourist attractions to clients. * Learn, understand and master the property management and telephony systems; manage incoming calls, reservations and requests. * Learn how to manage customer complaints: find solutions and take initiatives. * Learn and master the fire detection system and the evacuation procedure. * Learn how to make accurate taxi and restaurant bookings and other concierge requests. Back-Office / Admin Duties (under the supervision of the Rooms Division Manager): Contribute actively to: * Monthly & yearly inventory process. * Stock control (office supplies, welcome gifts & certain housekeeping supplies) * Compilation of customer feedback and ratings Reservations (under the supervision of the Yield Manager): * Understand the INSEAD Hotel Group policy for group placements with an aim to maximize occupancy & revenue * Receive, acknowledge and confirm reservation requests in a timely manner. * Enter reservations & guest information into the property management system. * Prepare and circulate rooming lists to INSEAD and local hotels. * Data entry to enable compilation of reports and statistics on activity and past performance.

Requirements

  • BTS Tourisme or Management en Hôtellerie Restauration (start 1st year in September 2026).
  • 1st year apprentice: school weeks 1 & 2; hotel placement weeks 3 & 4.
  • 2nd year apprentice: hotel placement weeks 3 & 4; school weeks 1 & 2.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required; fluent French is an asset.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer-focus skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
