

We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting internship position in Distributed Design Optimization. With this you can contribute to the fundamental change of the vehicle development processes with algorithms. The aim is to model the electric powertrain design (battery, e-machine and gearbox) as a distributed optimization problem and effectively solve it within our novel Python framework. Furthermore, you will evaluate and improve different optimization algorithms. You will also uncover and interpret insights from the data generated by the distributed design optimization framework. What awaits you? * Be part of the digital transformation and support the early-stage virtualization of overall vehicle development. * Construct representative distributed design problems for the electric powertrain (consisting of battery, e-machine and gearbox). * Solve for optimal powertrain designs using various algorithms within our existing Python framework. * Evaluate the simulated design process, offer insights into the coordination process of distributed systems, and propose algorithmic improvements. * Become part of a dynamic team and gain insights into modern vehicle development.
