Job Description

In our annual International Summer School Programme ISSP, students from around the world spend eight weeks researching on their own projects in close cooperation with our scientists. In addition to using the HZB laboratories and workshops, they gain an insight into our research, for example by touring the electron storage ring BESSY II, and establish important contacts for their scientific career. The international Quantsol Summer School on Analytics for Photovoltaics and Photoelectrochemistry primarily addresses young postdocs, PhD students, and master students in their final year at university with an interest in photovoltaics, photoelectrochemistry and solar energy conversion. Invited speakers, all recognised scientists from leading world institutions, will give lectures covering a wide range of topics on the fundamental principles of the conversion of solar energy into chemical and electrical energy as well as the physical and technical challenges. The Quantsol Winter School on Analytics for Photovoltaics and Photoelectrochemistry primarily addresses young postdocs, PhD students, and master students in their final year at university with an interest in photovoltaics, photoelectrochemistry and solar energy conversion. Invited speakers, all recognised scientists from leading world institutions, will give lectures covering a wide range of topics on the fundamental principles of the conversion of solar energy into chemical and electrical energy as well as the physical and technical challenges. The HZB Photon School, is primarily aimed at master’s students and early-stage researchers in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, life or environmental sciences. Participants will be introduced to synchrotron and laboratory-based methods that probe the molecular structure, function and dynamics of complex material systems. The program consists of basic and specialized lectures given by experienced teachers who are HZB scientists or BESSY II super-users from our partner universities and research centers. The second week is dedicated to hands-on trainings at several BESSY II experimental stations and X-ray laboratories. Participants will get a vivid experience by joining an experiment to work in small groups.
