Job Description

Working supporting Structural Analysis Team at our Cascina Costa site and offsite to study and develop research on helicopter structures by providing analytical modeling supported by tests . As part of the Structures Team you will be responsible for developing structural reasearch solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters and tilt rotors. Our analysis team supports both the UK and Italian geographies so although based in Italy there is the opportunity to work on our full product range. What you’ll do as a Stage in Structure Dept. You’ll be responsible for coordination, creation and delivery of varied and challenging study and develop research on helicopter structures with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing teams. Final objective is to build a report of all the research activity as stage. This will be performed with the support of a nominated tutor, internal person in Leonardo Helicopter Structures Dept.

Requirements

  • The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic solutions to challenging timescales and budgets
  • A university knowledge in the analysis of engineering structures
  • Knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) and numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis
  • A university knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance
  • A university knowledge of composite materials and analysis principles
  • Experience in using MSC NASTRAN (preferable)
  • Experience in using Altair HyperMesh (preferable) or Patran (optional)
  • Master Degree ongoing in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Previous proven university experience in structural integrity analyses involving structural modelling and static analyses
  • Good university knowledge in structural failure criteria, fatigue analysis, dynamic analysis
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities. Clear thinking, diligent approach and task oriented
  • English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral.
