The research group Systems Arbovirology (Head: Dr. Pietro Scaturro) focuses on the identification and characterization of viral and cellular determinants underlying diseases induced by different arboviruses (e.g. DENV, ZIKV, WNV, CHIKV). To do so, we use a range of methods including cellular model systems, primary cell work and modern bottom-up mass spectrometry (MS) profiling. We are looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented master student (m/f/d) in Molecular Life Sciences, Molecular Biology or a related field with interest in arboviruses to pursue a master thesis in our research group. The project will focus on in-depth characterization of recently identified vertebrates and invertebrates host proteins for their relevance in alpha- and flavivirus replication. Methods include but are not limited to: molecular cloning, cell culture, qRT PCR assays, co-IP-WB, imaging and RNAi experiments.
